Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Highway 299 in Shasta County
SHASTA COUNTY, CA (August 31, 2019) – A motorcyclist was killed and two others were injured in a crash Saturday afternoon on Highway 299.
The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. just west of French Gulch and Whiskeytown.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a silver Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling on the westbound side of Highway 299, when for unknown reasons, it veered over into the eastbound side and collided with a white Mazda pickup truck.
The motorcyclist, only described as an elderly man, became pinned between his bike and the pickup truck. He died at the scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the driver and a passenger in the pickup to a hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The extent of their injuries is unknown.
The identity of the motorcyclist has been withheld pending notification of his family members.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
