Rider Fatally Injured after Citrus Heights Big Rig Crash on 80 Freeway
CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (October 24, 2019) – A motorcyclist died following a big rig crash on 80 Freeway in Citrus Heights on Tuesday, October 22.
The accident occurred in westbound lanes of the freeway at Antelope weigh scales. The collision involved a big rig and a motorcycle, according to the police.
The rider, described as a 38-year-old man out of Los Angeles, has died. The CHP stated that the rider crashed with the rear of a Ford Fusion that was moving in front of him.
According to officers, the rider and the bike slid on the roadway and came to stop in the path of a big rig. The big rig was unable to stop or avoid crashing into the rider.
Officers said the driver of the sedan, a 58-year-old woman from Citrus Heights remained at the scene. The big rig driver, a 64-year-old man from Granite Bay, also cooperated with the investigation. Neither of the drivers was hurt.
Investigators do not know if drugs or alcohol contributed as a factor in this incident.
