Police Investigate Rear-End Crash on Central Avenue in Fortuna

Fortuna, CA (May 19, 2025) –  A 33-year-old male motorcyclist sustained injuries in a rear-end crash on Central Avenue.

A vehicle struck a motorcyclist around 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of Central Avenue and Pickett Road in McKinleyville, according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page.

Initial reports stated that the impact left both the motorcycle and the rider in the middle of the roadway. 

Emergency medical teams responded promptly, and CAL FIRE Fortuna received notification of the collision. 

An ambulance was dispatched with lights and sirens (CODE 3), indicating the possibility of a serious injury.

As of now, officials have not released full details regarding the events leading up to the crash or the current condition of the motorcyclist.

UPDATE – 6:00 p.m.: Medical personnel reported via scanner that a 33-year-old man had stopped at a red light when another vehicle rear-ended him. 

The collision caused the rider to flip over, striking the windshield before landing over the back of the vehicle. 

Thankfully, he was wearing full protective gear at the time of the crash. 

Emergency responders noted that he was alert at the scene and reported back pain.
