1 Hospitalized in Escondido Motorcycle Accident
ESCONDIDO, CA (February 12, 2019) – A 53-year-old motorcycle rider sustained serious injuries following a collision with a Jeep Grand Cherokee that then escaped the area on February 10.
According to Escondido Police Lt. Mike Kearney, the incident happened at 4:45 p.m. near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Hickory Street.
The initial investigation and witnesses revealed that the motorcyclist was riding west on Washington Avenue when the Jeep attempted to turn left turn out of a private driveway on Washington Avenue, Kearney added. The rider then struck the Jeep and was thrown off from his bike.
Meanwhile, the Jeep driver escaped the scene.
The rider, who was from San Diego, sustained serious injuries to his legs and was transported to a hospital and then went into surgery. The victim’s gender and condition weren’t released as of this time.
Meanwhile, the hit-and-run vehicle was believed to be a dark green Jeep Grand Cherokee with black primer paint spots and missing or damaged front-end equipment.
