Injuries Reported in Whatcom County Motorcycle Accident on Everson Goshen Road and Highway 542
WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (March 31, 2021) – Tuesday morning, a motorcyclist suffered injuries in a crash on Everson Goshen Road and Highway 542.
The authorities received a report of a crash between a motorcycle and a pickup truck at about 6:00 a.m. Moreover, it happened at the intersection of Everson Goshen Road and Highway 542.
WSP Trooper Rocky Oliphant revealed that a 2021 Chevrolet pickup truck drove east on Highway 542. Then, it stopped and turned left onto Everson Goshen Road northbound. However, it crashed with the westbound motorcycle. The motorcyclist crashed into the pickup truck’s front bumper.
As a result, the rider sustained serious injuries, including a broken leg. Meanwhile, the pickup truck driver suffered no injuries. A medic unit took one patient to PeaceHealth St Joseph’s Medical Center in Bellingham.
The crash led the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office deputies to shut down Everson Goshen Road between E Smith Road and SR542. Also, the Washington State Patrol troopers handle the investigation.
According to reports, the pickup truck driver wore a seatbelt, and airbags were deployed during the crash.
Also, the authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Meanwhile, the pickup truck driver receives a citation for failing to yield the right of way.
When driving a motorcycle, it’s important to follow the posted speed limit and to yield to other drivers during uncertain driving situations.
We may not always know what other drivers are thinking. However, if we approach situations with care, we’ll have a likelier chance of averting a collision.
