Motorcyclist Killed in Suspected DUI Crash on State Route 302 Near Stansberry Lake
Pierce County, WA (February 6, 2025) – A 40-year-old motorcycle rider perished after a frightening traffic crash on SR 302 Tuesday evening.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the fatal incident happened around 7:53 p.m. on State Route 302 Northwest near 138th Avenue on the Key Peninsula.
Authorities say that a Grapeview man behind the wheel of a 2012 Ford F350 crossed into the center lane and collided with the eastbound motorcyclist.
Emergency responders arrived, but the motorcyclist, a Port Orchard resident, died at the scene. Authorities arrested the 35-year-old driver on suspicion of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence. He remains in custody at the Pierce County Jail. Officials noted he was not wearing a seat belt.
The crash partially blocked the roadway for over three hours as crews investigated and cleared the scene.
