Highway 33 Crash in Ojai Badly Injures Motorcyclist

OJAI, CA (October 08, 2019) — A motorcycle rider sustained major injuries in an accident on Highway 33 in Ojai Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred at about 1:54 p.m. in remote Los Padres National Forest. The area is about 3½ miles south of Lockwood Valley Road according to the California Highway Patrol.

Initial reports indicated that two motorcyclists had gone down. The authorities later said that only one of the riders suffered serious injuries. They did not release the name of the rider, saying he is a man 35 to 40 years old.

A helicopter transported the injured rider to Ventura County Medical Center due to his critical condition. The other rider, a 53-year-old man, declined medical treatment at the scene.

Motorcyclists rarely escape injury when an accident occurs. If you are riding a motorcycle, do not underestimate the bike’s speed. Additionally, strictly follow traffic laws and the conditions of the road. For other drivers, do not tailgate a motorcycle. Maintain a safe following distance. Give motorcycles a full traffic lane when you pass. Remember that they too have equal rights on the road.
