Fillmore Man Dead and 3 Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision near Broadway Road

MOORPARK, CA (October 12, 2018) – A man was killed Friday evening following a two-vehicle collision near Broadway Road. The deceased victim was later identified as 58-year-old Moises Paniagua, a resident of Fillmore.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 10:35 PM on Highway 23. A northbound green Honda Accord, driven by Paniagua, was approaching a curve when it collided head-on with an eastbound black Ford F-350.

Paniagua and three of his passengers – a 51-year-old woman, a 22-year-old woman, and a 16-year-old girl – were rushed to the Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks for treatment. Unfortunately, Paniagua succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead hours after the collision. Updates on the survivors’ current medical conditions were not immediately available.

The 46-year-old pickup driver received treatment at the scene after suffering minor injuries, including seatbelt and airbag abrasions. Authorities confirmed that she declined hospitalization.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. It was also noted that the collision occurred during a thunderstorm. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.

Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Moises Paniagua. May he rest in peace.
