Mission Hills Crash Sends Sedan Underneath a Flatbed Truck, Driver Survives

MISSION HILLS, CA (November 28, 2018) – A woman was hospitalized following a traffic collision with a big rig Wednesday morning in Mission Hills.

The collision happened just before 10:00 on northbound 5 Freeway near 118 Freeway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a sedan was wedged underneath a flatbed truck and was blocking several lanes of the freeway.

The female driver of the sedan, approximately 30 years old, was found trapped inside the car with non-life-threatening injuries. She was taken to a hospital for proper treatment.

A SigAlert was issued in the area, with only the right lane was open as crews worked to disentangle the vehicles.

Details of how the crash occurred were not immediately available. The incident is still under investigation.

Always practice proper safety precautions when driving around big rigs. These vehicles are often dangerous to be around due to their size and large blind spots. Slow down, stay alert and avoid distractions at all times behind the wheel.
