CHP Investigates Minor Injury Collision on State Route 88 in Kirkwood

Kirkwood, CA (October 14, 2024) – CHP is investigating a minor traffic collision on State Route 88, just west of Kit Carson Road, this morning. 

The incident was first reported at 9:27 a.m. when a vehicle was involved in a crash and was later found overturned. Responders from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and local emergency services were dispatched to the scene.

Initial reports indicated that the vehicle was partially blocking the road, but it was confirmed that it was visible and on its roof. 

Emergency services quickly responded, including medical personnel and a tow truck, which was requested to remove the overturned vehicle. 

CHP also communicated with Kirkwood Fire to ensure safety cones were set up to manage the scene. Although the collision was initially classified as a more severe accident, it was later updated to a minor injury incident at 10:02 a.m. 

The involved parties were advised to remain safe while waiting for medical assistance and a tow truck. 

Communication was difficult due to a lack of cell service in the area, with responders relying on text updates from the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, and details about the injured parties or the cause of the accident have not yet been released.
