Lompoc Man Miguel Salas Dead in Motorcycle Crash on Purisima Road

 
LOMPOC VALLEY, CA (June 23, 2021) – Tuesday, Miguel Salas, 26, died in a motorcycle accident on Purisima Road and Mission Gate Road.
 
The fatal crash between a motorcycle and a vehicle took place at about 2:50 p.m.
 
The personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, and CHP came to Purisima Road and Mission Gate Road.
 
Meanwhile, A Calstar medical helicopter also responded. However, the authorities later canceled the helicopter.
 
According to reports, 67-year-old Lawrence Li of Lompoc drove a Volkswagen north on Mission Gate Road.
 
Then, he made a left turn onto Purisima Road to travel west, said CHP Officer Keith Rogers.
 
For reasons still unknown, the motorcyclist was thrown off from the Kawasaki motorcycle. Then, the rider crashed into the front of the Volkswagen.
 
As a result, the 26-year-old Lompoc motorcyclist, Mr. Salas, succumbed to his injuries.
 
The incident also led to the closure of the road near the intersections of Purisima Road and Highway 246, plus Highway 246 and Mission Gate Road.
 
The authorities do not believe that alcohol and drugs played a role in the Lompoc crash.
 
Meanwhile, the CHP officers from the Buellton area continuously investigates the cause of the crash.
