Officers Search for Merced County Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash Suspect

Fresno, CA (January 10, 2023) – On Saturday, Michael Tamez, 30, of Atwater, sustained fatal injuries in a Santa Fe Drive hit-and-run collision.

According to the authorities investigating the incident, the actual accident took place late at night when the victim was walking near California Street.

Officers say it appeared that a driver struck Tamez. Then, the victim was thrown onto the south shoulder of Santa Fe Drive. 

The victim’s body was only discovered at 8:15 a.m. the following day.
