James Parisi Arrested in Fatal Dayton Hit-and-Run Crash
DAYTON, NV (August 15, 2019) – A man was killed along with his five dogs following a hit-and-run crash Thursday morning.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of Six Mile Canyon Road between Ring Road and Roughing It Road just before 7:00 a.m.
They said a 59-year-old Michael Kuntz was walking eastbound with his five dogs, when an unknown vehicle crossed over the center of the road and hit him and the dogs.
As a result, Kuntz and all of the dogs died at the scene.
The driver of the car, 38-year-old James Vincent Parisi of Dayton, fled the scene.
Investigators say a piece of the suspect vehicle was left at the scene. It is described as a late GM truck, SUV, or van, with front-end or headlight damage.
Authorities arrested Parisi on Thursday, the Nevada Highway Patrol reported.
The NHP credited a concerned community and collaboration between the NHP and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office for the arrest.
