21-Year-Old Man Hospitalized after Crashing onto a Tree on SR 9 Near SR 96
SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA (March 3, 2018) – Around 12:20 PM on Saturday afternoon, a man was severely injured in a hit-and-run accident occurred on State Route 9 near the junction with State Route 96 (Lowell Larimar Road).
The young man was identified as 21-year-old Michael J Lux of Lynwood, Washington. First emergency responders arrived at the scene of the accident to find a tan 1994 Toyota Camry in a ditch on the side of eastbound SR 9, facing westbound and crashed into a tree.
Lux suffered critical injuries and was transported to the Providence Hospital in Everett for medical treatment. There is no update on his current condition, and no other injuries have been reported at this time. A witness stated that Lux’s Camry was passing a silver car that was also traveling westbound, when the two vehicles collided. The Camry then veered off of the road and into a tree, while the other driver fled from the scene, continuing westbound.
The Washington State Patrol continues to search for the hit-and-run driver and the vehicle involved. Troopers were able to collect a silver side mirror from the crash site, which they believe is from the left side of a Mazda 3 passenger vehicle with driver’s side damage.
