34-Year-Old Hesperia Man Killed in Accident on Cherry Street
HESPERIA, CA (April 25, 2018) – A fatal two-vehicle collision occurred on Peach Avenue and Cherry Street, late Wednesday night. The deceased victim was later identified as 34-year-old Michael Duarte of Hesperia.
Hesperia Sheriff’s Department deputies and paramedics responded to the collision involving a 2001 Honda and a 2015 Nissan, around 11:25 PM.
According to reports, Duarte was driving the Honda southbound on Peach, when for unknown reasons, crossed over the double lines into the northbound lanes. He came into the path of the Nissan, colliding with it head-on.
Responding officers arrived and found Duarte trapped his vehicle. He succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash, and was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman and female juvenile sustained major injuries and were airlifted to the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities have not yet determined if alcohol or speed were involved in the collision as they continue to investigate. No additional information has been released at this time.
