Michael Daniel Martinez Killed in Lompoc Car Accident, Michael Culligan Arrested

 
LOMPOC, CA (June 18, 2020) – Early Tuesday afternoon, authorities arrested Michael Culligan after a deadly crash that killed Michael Daniel Martinez on Santa Lucia Canyon Road.
 
The Santa Barbara County firefighters, CHP officers, and AMR ambulances responded at around 12:25 p.m. Furthermore, the incident occurred near Victory Road.
 
According to the CHP, the head-on crash involved a gray Jeep SUV and a blue Lexus sedan.
 
Meanwhile, Officer Kelly Valdez revealed that the southbound Jeep driver, 29-year-old Michael Culligan of Lompoc, drove into the path of the northbound Lexus driven by Michael Martinez. As a result, the head-on crash occurred.

Valdez added that the 37-year-old Martinez, a Santa Maria, died at the scene.
 
Furthermore, Martinez’s 37-year-old female passenger, Nicole Spadaro, suffered critical injuries. Reports revealed that she’s also a resident of Santa Maria.
 
The police requested a Calstar medical helicopter to transport her to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
 
Moreover, Valdez revealed that the suspect driver, Culligan, escaped the crash scene on foot. However, after conducting an extensive search with the help of K-9 units and a helicopter, the authorities found him.
 
Moreover, personnel from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office and Vandenberg Air Force Base came to help.
 
According to the CHP, the incident occurred within the federal jurisdiction of Vandenberg. Thus, the Vandenberg Air Force Base helps in the investigation.
 
The Lompoc Police revealed that the Jeep was stolen from the city.
