50-Year-Old Baldwin Park Man Pronounced Dead after Struck by Car at First Street
AZUSA, CA (May 4,2018) – A man was pronounced dead after a tragic pedestrian collision on Irwindale Avenue.
The incident occurred before 2 AM on Friday, May 4th. According to police, 50-year-old Michael Joseph Brizuela of Baldwin Park, was crossing Irwindale Avenue at First Street. He was headed home after work, and was walking outside of the designated crosswalk.
At the same time, a vehicle was traveling southbound on Irwindale. The driver did not see the Brizuela,m and was unable to avoid hitting him, despite attempts. He remained at the scene after the accident and cooperated with authorities. Firefighters transported the injured pedestrian to a local trauma center and then to the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. He was pronounced dead on Monday, May 7th.
Police officials continue to investigate the collision. They stated that alcohol did not seem to be a factor in the accident and that they are looking for witnesses. Anyone with additional information about the accident is urged to call the Azusa Police Traffic Bureau at (626) 812-3210.
