Melvin Joseph Weibel of Dana Point Dead in 2-Vehicle Crash on Stonehill Drive [Dana Point, CA]

Dana Point, CA (February 2, 2025) – Melvin Joseph Weibel, an 88-year-old Dana Point man, was killed in a 2-vehicle crash on Stonehill Drive Friday evening.

The fatal crash happened around 6:15 p.m. at the intersection with Golden Lantern involving a Land Rover SUV and a Ford Transit van.

The Land Rover driven by Serene Francie Rosenberg, 48, also of Dana Point, was westbound on Stonehill Drive and turned left against a red arrow signal in front of the eastbound Ford Transit van on the same road.

Melvin Joseph Weibel was a passenger inside the transit van during the collision. Unfortunately, he lost his life at the crash scene. 

The medical team rushed the van driver to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Moreover, the authorities arrested the Land Rover driver, Serene Francie Rosenberg, on suspicion of driving under the influence. They booked her into the Orange County Jail for murder and DUI causing injury. Officers said she has three prior convictions.
