Melvin Brown Dead in San Jose Pedestrian Crash on 13th Street
SAN JOSE, CA (December 12, 2019) – A 72-year-old man died in a pedestrian crash on 13th Street on November 27.
According to reports, a pickup truck traveling east of downtown struck the victim. The incident occurred just after 8:00 a.m. on North 13th Street and East Santa Clara Street, San Jose police Officer Gina Tepoorten said.
When the officers came, they located Melvin Douglas Brown in the roadway.
According to Tepoorten, responders took Brown to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on November 29.
The preliminary investigation determined that a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado turning from southbound N. 13th Street onto westbound East Santa Clara Street struck Melvin Douglas Brown.
It is still unclear whether Brown used a crosswalk during the collision. Authorities also ruled out drugs and alcohol as a factor in the crash.
