Melissa Ruhle Killed in Reno Alleged DUI Accident on Highway 395
RENO, NV (May 3, 2019) – A woman died after her vehicle crashed into a concrete traffic barrier in Reno on Friday, April 26.
The Nevada Highway Patrol identified the deceased as 23-year-old Melissa Ruhle, of Reno.
The accident happened at around 11:43 p.m. along Highway 395, just north of Parr Boulevard. Ruhle drove southbound on the highway when she let her gray 2011 Volkswagen Jetta drift onto the inside shoulder. This caused her vehicle to strike the end of one of the concrete barriers, NHP said.
The vehicle came to rest on its wheels and faced south in the center median, according to authorities.
First responders rushed Ruhle to an area hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries a short time later.
According to investigators, they suspect impairment as a factor in the incident. They said Ruhle did not wear a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
The incident prompted authorities to shut down the roadway for about three hours.
Investigators said they’re searching for additional witnesses.
During this mournful time, we would like to send our well-wishes and sincere sympathies to the grieving family and friends of Melissa Ruhle.
