Maximo Najera Arrested in Nooksack Road Fatal Crash [Everson, WA]

Everson, WA (October 8, 2023) – The authorities arrested 21-year-old Maximo Najera in a Nooksack Road fatal crash Friday.

The authorities responded to the single-vehicle crash at about 11:20 p.m. at the intersection with Hopewell Road.

Washington State Patrol officers said a 2007 Toyota Corolla driven by Najera was southbound on Nooksack Road. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a power pole.

Najera was transported to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center while his passenger was declared deceased at the crash scene.

Officers said Najera and his passenger were wearing seatbelts when the accident happened. They also said that drugs or alcohol were determined to have been a factor.

The authorities booked Maximo Najera into Whatcom County Jail by WSP about 4:35am with charges of suspicion of vehicular homicide while driving under the influence.
