Two-Car Crash on State Avenue Near 116th Street Northeast

MARYSVILLE, WA (February 20, 2018) – On Tuesday morning around 6:50 AM, two cars collided on the 11700 block of State Avenue near 116th Street Northeast.

According to reports, a blue Honda sedan was traveling northbound on State Avenue approaching 116th St NE, when a Toyota van was driving southbound and turning east into a business parking lot. The vehicles collided almost head-on in the northbound lanes of State.

The 26-year-old Granite Falls man was stuck inside of the Honda, and had to be extricated by Marysville Fire Department. He was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett with serious injuries and needing surgery. The 28-year-old Stanwood man driving the Toyota was taken to the same hospital for evaluation and released with minor injuries.

No passengers were inside of either car, and no other injuries were reported in the accident.

Based on initial investigation, police believe that speed played a big factor in this collision. If you witnessed the accident and have any additional information, contact the Marysville Police Department Collision Investigation Unit at (360) 363-8300.

Abiding by the rules of the road reduces chances of an accident while behind the wheel. Make sure to stay within speed limits, remain alert and aware, and use turn signals when changing lanes.
