Three Women Pronounced Dead in Palmdale Road Head-on Crash

 
Phelan, CA (April 17, 2020)– Thursday afternoon, three women were killed in a head-on crash on Palmdale Road and Sheep Creek Road.
 
An update identifies the women as 23-year-old Mary Lynn Lacerte of Pinon Hills, 22-year-old Eden Sage Nunez of Jonson Valley, and 28-year-old Ashley Morgan Taylor of Palmdale.
 
San Bernardino County firefighters responded to the scene after receiving collision reports after 4:03 p.m. on April 16, occurring on Palmdale Road, just west of Sheep Creek Road.
 
Both vehicles drove east of Minero Road on State Route 18 when the incident took place.
 
Upon CHP’s arrival, they located a black BMW and green 1993 Honda Accord on the scene. According to their news release, Lacarte and Nunez drove in the Honda, and Morgan drove the 2002 BMW.
 
Further so, witnesses say one of the vehicles involved was traveling the wrong way. There, the other vehicle approached directly to it, causing the extreme head-on crash.

The Aftermath and On-Going Investigation

 
As a result of the accident, one of the vehicles erupted into flames. Reportedly, a Good Samaritan driving a water tanker stopped and helped extinguish the fire, along with the others.
 
However, there were no survivors in either vehicle.
 
Moreover, CHP officials confirmed alcohol or drugs are still not suspected to be a factor in the collision.
 
CHP officer Michael Mumford revealed that both vehicles were impounded for evidence, and an investigation to confirm the party at fault is currently underway.
