2 Dead in Pedestrian Accident on Cathedral Oaks Road

 
GOLETA, CA (February 11, 2020) – Two people died in a DUI pedestrian accident on Cathedral Oaks Road on February 9.
 
The CHP initially revealed that the crash happened at around 5:15 p.m. on Cathedral Oaks Road.
 
More specifically, the accident occurred east of Ellwood Ridge Road, to the west of Brandon Drive, and less than a mile north of Calle Real. Santa Barbara County fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli revealed one person died at the scene of the accident.
 
Meanwhile, an American Medical Response ambulance transported the other person to the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The second victim later died at the hospital.
 
Authorities then identified the victims on February 10 as Mary Jane Becerra Corral and Adolfo Corral,
 
They were both 44, and resided in Goleta.
Mary Jane Becerra Corral worked as a computer specialist for the Goleta Union School District.
Adolfo Corral served as the equity, diversity, and cultural competency coordinator at Santa Barbara City College.
 
Their passing jumpstarted a GoFundMe account to benefit the Corrals’ family.
 
Moreover, authorities arrested the suspected hit-and-run driver at around 8:45 p.m. in Carpinteria.
39-year-old Eric Mauricio Ramirez Aguilar of Goleta was found in the passenger seat of a car that deputies stopped at around 8:30 p.m.
 
They also clarified that the car’s driver didn’t play any role in the Goleta collision. Authorities released him at the scene.
 
However, they did book Aguilar into County Jail on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, with an enhancement for causing the deaths of more than one person.
