2 People Injured, Martha Saldivar Dead After Crash on West Valencia Road in Tucson

Tucson, AZ (January 3, 2025) – An 81-year-old woman, Martha Saldivar, died following a car crash on Tucson’s southwest side on January 1.

Driving westbound on West Valencia Road, Saldivar veered into oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle at the Mark Road intersection, as stated in a news release from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

When deputies arrived, they found Saldivar bleeding inside her vehicle. She informed them she felt fine and declined medical attention but later agreed to be evaluated. 

Emergency responders transported her to a local hospital for further assessment.

Later that evening, the medical examiner notified the Pima County Sheriff’s Department that Saldivar had passed away during surgery.

The crash also sent the two occupants of the other vehicle to the hospital with injuries reported as non-life-threatening.
