49-Year-Old Woman Fatally Injured in Pedestrian Accident on Olive and Maple Avenues
FRESNO, CA (February 22, 2018) – A 49-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car on Thursday evening around PM on Olive and Maple Avenues.
A vehicle was traveling westbound on Olive Ave near the 180 Freeway overpass, when it hit Marnie Curtis, 49. The woman was reportedly walking in the street in an area with no crosswalk, according to Lt. Michael Landon of the Fresno Police Department.
Curtis suffered critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The driver remained at the scene of the crash and was cooperative with authorities. Roads were closed for investigation of the scene, and later reopened.
Officials are unsure if weather conditions played a role in the fatal accident. According to reports, the rain and dimly lit area under the Highway 168 overpass, made it difficult to see while driving. No other information has been provided at this time.
