1 Dead and 1 Detained after Clark County Motorcycle Accident on 47th Avenue

CLARK COUNTY, WA (August 25, 2020) – Thursday, Mark Holm died while Carlos Hoyos-Gonzalez was arrested in crash on 47th Avenue.

According to investigators, 26-year-old Carlos J. Hoyos showed signs of impairment. He drove his Ford Econoline work van into Northeast 47th Avenue and Northeast Minnehaha Street while driving past a purple Lexus sedan.

The sheriff’s office revealed that Hoyos-Gonzales initially traveled in the left land of Northeast Minnehaha Street. Meanwhile, the Lexus traveled in the right. As they approached the intersection of NE 47th Avenue, the Lexus turned right to the north. Then, Carlos Hoyos-Gonzalez maneuvered a sweeping counter-clockwise 270-degree turn. As he turned, a westbound motorcyclist crashed into the vehicle on NE Minnehaha Street.

The authorities identified the 59-year-old rider as Mark Holm of Vancouver. They declared him dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, Carlos Hoyos-Gonzalez stayed at the scene. The deputies stated that the suspect’s work van had been involved in at least two other hit-and-run crashes.

Furthermore, the sheriff’s office is still investigating the crash. They are trying to have a conversation with the driver of the allegedly-involved Lexus sedan.

Thus, they are encouraging anyone with information about the crash to call the Clark County Sheriff’s Office’s Traffic Unit at 564-888-0440.

The authorities booked Carlos Hoyos-Gonzalez into the Clark County Jail with vehicular homicide charges.

During this tragic time, we would like to send our sincere sympathies to the bereaved family and friends of Mark Holm.
