Hemet Fatal Pedestrian Accident Killed Marivele Cook

 
Hemet, CA (September 24, 2020) – On Saturday, 39-year-old Marivele Cook died in a pedestrian accident on Stetson Avenue in Hemet.
 
Hemet police Sgt. Dan Reinbolt said the tragic accident happened at about 8:20 p.m. when Cook tried to cross Stetson Avenue from the north side toward the south side, about mid-block between Gilbert Street and Palm Avenue.
 
She was struck by a car, a 2012 Hyundai sedan, driven by a 77-year-old Hemet woman.
 
Police said Cook was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
“It is not clear why the pedestrian decided to cross the roadway at this location and the investigation is ongoing,” said Reinbolt.
 
Moreover, investigators said the driver was not suspected of being intoxicated. She stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
