Fatal Motorcycle Accident near Tiburon Boulevard
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (March 26, 2018) – A female motorcyclist was killed in an accident on Highway 101, just north of Tiburon Boulevard, late Monday evening.
The Marin County Sheriff’s Office-Coroner Division identified the motorcyclist as 29-year-old Marie Noelle Sigenthaler of San Francisco. She was traveling south on the highway, around 10:00 PM, when she was rear-ended by a vehicle in the No. 2 lane.
She was then was ejected onto the No. 1 lane from the impact of the collision, according to CHP Officer Andrew Barclay.
Siegenthaler was lying on the freeway for less than a minute, when she was struck again by another car, a Volkswagon SUV. The driver of the Volkswagen stopped, but a silver Toyota Prius that hit the motorcycle first, fled the scene. Witnesses also stopped to help the injured woman.
The victim’s brother who was riding ahead of her realized she was not close by and circled back to find the fatal crash.
The matter is still under investigation. California Highway Patrol officials are yet to determine the official cause and manner of death. Toxicology results and the conclusion of the investigation are also pending. Authorities continue to search for the hit-and-run driver.
