1 Killed in Merced Traffic Crash on Ashby Road

 
MERCED, CA (June 6, 2020) – Thursday evening, Maria Tirado was involved in a fatal motorcycle crash on Ashby Road in Merced.
 
The California Highway Patrol revealed that a 51-year-old Merced man died after his motorcycle collided with an SUV.
 
According to reports, a 6:45 p.m. the rider of a 2004 Honda Rebel was trying to make a left turn out of a mobile home park at 2020 Ashby Road, west of Fern Street.
 
As he maneuvered his bike, he crashed into a 2004 Lincoln Navigator driven by 59-year-old Maria Tirado of Merced. Tirado was heading west on Ashby Road when the crash occurred.
 
Meanwhile, CHP officer Eric Zuniga said that Tirado traveled at a speed of 40 mph, within the speed limit. She even “attempted to evade the collision but was unable to do it.”
 
When CHP officers arrived on the scene, an emergency personnel from Riggs Ambulance administered CPR to the motorcyclist. Unfortunately, the motorcycle rider died at the scene.
 
Moreover, Zuniga revealed that Maria Tirado stayed at the crash scene. She’s also cooperative with the investigation. Furthermore, the police revealed that she wasn’t under the influence during the incident.
 
At this time, the police haven’t disclosed the name of the deceased due to pending family notification, said Merced County Sheriff’s Office deputy Daryl Allen.
 
The fatal motorcycle crash remains under active investigation.
