Maria Hernandez Martinez Fatally Struck in Bank of America Parking Lot in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 10, 2021) – Saturday morning, Maria Hernandez Martinez died in a pedestrian accident on Oswell Street in a Bank of America parking lot.
 
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, they received a report of the incident at about 11:17 a.m. A vehicle hit pedestrians in the parking lot of the Bank of America on Oswell Street near Auburn Street.
 
Moreover, reports confirmed that the victims were in line waiting to access the ATM machine. However, a pickup truck trying to park in the lot hit them.
 
As a result, the woman sustained major injuries while the man suffered minor to moderate injuries. Responders transported both victims to an area hospital. Unfortunately, the woman later succumbed to her injuries.
 
On the other hand, the driver stayed at the scene and has been cooperative with the investigation.
 
Furthermore, the authorities do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
