TURLOCK, CA (May 29, 2019) – Two people sustained injuries in a car collision on Keyes Road on May 27.
 
The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of East Keyes and Geer roads north of Turlock. 55-year-old Maria Alay traveled north on Geer at around 55 mph in a 1993 Honda. However, she ran the red light at the Keyes Road intersection.
 
Meanwhile, 27-year-old Jonathan Calderon traveled east in a 2016 Western semi-truck hauling a milk tanker. In addition, he was near the intersection when he saw the Honda doing the same. As a result, he then steered sharply to the left.
 
The vehicles crashed and the truck rolled over onto Keyes Road just east of Geer. The Honda landed in the eastbound lane of Keyes Road. Alay got stuck inside for an hour as firefighters worked to free her. She sustained major injuries and a helicopter took her to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
 
Furthermore, Calderon sustained minor injuries. He crawled out a window of the truck and declined medical aid.
 
Keyes Road remained close for around five hours between Geer and Berkeley roads while crews work at the scene.
 
Authorities ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the collision.
