68-Year-Old Manuel Guajardo Dies in Tri-City DUI Crash
Benton County, WA (March 07, 2021) – On Friday, 68-year-old Manuel Guajardo of Kennewick died while police arrested 42-year-old Jesus Chavez of Walla Walla in a DUI crash on State Route 14.
The fatal crash took place about 11:55 p.m. 6 miles east of Paterson, WA.
Chavez was traveling in a 2007 GMC Sierra east the highway and drifted into the westbound lane. His vehicle struck Guajardo’s 2000 Volkswagen Beetle head-on.
Both of their vehicles were damaged. Reports also said both men were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
Right away, rescuers took Chavez to Trios Health Southridge Hospital with unspecified injuries.
Unfortunately, Guajardo lost his life on the crash scene.
Meanwhile, authorities closed the highway for about two hours while the scene was cleared.
