Speeding Car Overturns on Mountain City Highway in Elko Killing the Driver and Passenger
ELKO, NV (November 10, 2019) – Two people died following a rollover crash Sunday evening on Mountain City Highway north of Elko.
The crash happened around 8:20 p.m. near the Tuscarora junction.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, a Volkswagen Jetta were traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when it went off the right shoulder and overturned several times.
As a result, both the driver and a passenger in the car died at the scene. Authorities identified them as 21-year-old Manuel Escobedo-Torres of Elko and 19-year-old Connor C. McGowan of Fallon.
The patrol says neither was wearing a seat belt and both were ejected.
Speed was a contributing factor, according to NHP. Further investigation is underway.
