Manuel Antonio Sanchez Contrera Arrested after Fatal Crash on Sycamore Avenue [Orange, CA]

1 Person Killed in Orange Auto Accident on Sycamore Avenue and North Main Street

 
ORANGE, CA (July 20, 2021) – Sunday afternoon, Manuel Antonio Sanchez Contrera was arrested after a fatal crash on Sycamore Avenue.
 
The officers came to the scene just after 4:00 p.m. on West Sycamore Avenue and North Main Street.
 
Orange Police Sgt. Phil McMullin said that man driving a Mazda Protege died at the scene. He solely occupied the vehicle.
 
Meanwhile, the authorities arrested the Honda Accord driver on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. They identified him as 23-year-old Manuel Antonio Sanchez Contrera of Los Angeles.
 
The investigators suspect that the Mazda driver was in a left turn lane. As it waited to transition from northbound Main to westbound Sycamore, the Honda struck the Mazda from behind.
 
Contrera traveled at a “high rate of speed” when he hit the other car.
 
Meanwhile, McMullin confirmed that Contreras suffered no injuries. He stayed at the scene to cooperate with the police. Then, they later took him into custody.
 
Also, the identity of the deceased driver from Orange remains undisclosed due to pending family notification.
