Male Pedestrian Hospitalized after Hit by Car in Modesto

 
MODESTO, CA (January 7, 2019) – On Monday afternoon, a male pedestrian was struck and injured in a pedestrian accident on Yosemite Boulevard.
 
According to Modesto Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:45 PM on Yosemite Boulevard near Conejo Avenue.
 
As per reports, the pedestrian allegedly laid down in the westbound lanes of Yosemite Boulevard, closest to the curb. He was then struck by a PT Cruiser.
 
The victim appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, however police are still investigating the accident.
 
Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the victim to a nearby hospital. Officers stated he suffered major injuries, including broken bones, but is expected to survive. Authorities stated the driver of the PT Cruiser remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement.
 
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time for cleanup and preliminary investigation, but has since reopened. No further details have been released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
 
The identity of the man has not yet been released to the public.
