Pedestrian Hurt in Coachella Crash

 
COACHELLA, CA (May 26, 2019) – One man was seriously hurt following a pedestrian accident in Coachella on Thursday, May 23.
 
The crash happened just before 9 p.m. in the area of Calhoun Street and Avenue 48.
 
According to Ben Guitron, public information officer for IPD, an adult male was struck by a vehicle. Paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Guitron stated that he doesn’t know the extent of the injuries.
 
Guitron said the pedestrian may have been under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred.
 
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police. Guitron confirmed the driver is not believed to be under the influence.
 
Traffic in the area was slow and congested during the on-scene investigation.
