Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car near Shifting Sands Trail
CATHEDRAL CITY, CA (August 26, 2018) – A man was killed Sunday night in a pedestrian crash on Ramon Road. The name of the deceased victim has not yet been released by the Riverside County Coroner’s office, pending notification of next of kin.
Officials with the California Highway Patrol stated that the collision happened just after 9:00 PM, near Shifting Sands Trail. According to the Cathedral City Police, the pedestrian was walking north when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle.
There were no designated crosswalks in the area. He was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
The driver pulled over and cooperated with investigators when they arrived. The cause of the crash is still under investigation at this time, but drugs and alcohol are not considered to be contributing factors in the fatal collision. No other details have been disclosed as the investigation continues.
