1 Fatally Struck in Madera County Pedestrian Accident near Road 37
MADERA COUNTY, CA (February 7, 2020) – Early Friday morning, an unidentified man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 145.
Authorities responded to the incident just before 3:30 a.m., near Road 37. CHP later revealed that a male pedestrian stood in the westbound lanes of Highway 145 when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
Responders transported the pedestrian to Valley Children’s Hospital with major injuries. However, he later succumbed to injuries as a result of the impact.
Meanwhile, the driver was described as a man in his 50’s. He stayed on scene and reported the incident. He was allegedly driving to work at the time, traveling under the speed limit.
The surrounding area on Highway 145 was closed off for a brief time while crews gathered information. Authorities later ruled out alcohol and drugs as a factor in the collision.
A tow truck was also called to remove the car due to the extent of damage sustained. The victim’s identity remains unreleased at this time.
