1 Dead in Sacramento Pedestrian Crash on Interstate 5 and Richards Boulevard
SACRAMENTO, CA (February 26, 2021) – Wednesday morning, a 24-year-old man died in a pedestrian accident on Interstate 5 and Richards Boulevard.
At about 5:30 a.m., a Rio Linda man walked from the center divider across southbound lanes towards the right shoulder. This incident occurred on Interstate 5, north of Richards Boulevard.
Then, the man walked into the path of a Lexus driving at a speed of 60 to 70 mph in the second lane from the right shoulder. The impact sent the pedestrian into the far-right lane.
When the authorities arrived, they declared the pedestrian dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the CHP confirmed that the Lexus driver remained at the scene and has been cooperative.
Also, the crash shut down all lanes except two. At this time, the authorities are withholding the identity of the victim.
Moreover, the authorities haven’t confirmed whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
The authorities continue to investigate the collision.
