Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car on 205 Freeway in Tracy

 
TRACY, CA (August 16, 2019) – A 59-year-old man was killed when he tried to run across the freeway and was struck by a car early Friday morning.
 
CHP officials responded to the scene after receiving reports of a pedestrian crash around 4:08 a.m. along the westbound lanes of 205 Freeway at MacArthur Drive.
 
According to the CHP, the man was trying to across the lanes of traffic toward the center median. A gray Chevrolet Malibu traveling west at 60 mph then struck him in the left lane.
 
The impact threw the man into the center divider. Arriving units pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
The driver of the Chevy Malibu stopped and cooperated with authorities.
 
CHP said the coroner’s office was conducting toxicology tests and the accident was still under investigation.
