IMPERIAL BEACH, CA (November 26, 2019) — A man died in a pedestrian accident on Palm Avenue Sunday evening near 11th Street.
 
According to sheriff’s Lt. Juan Marquez, the man believed to be in his 70s died after trying to cross Palm Avenue around 5:45 p.m. The driver who struck the unidentified victim stayed at the scene and cooperated with police who determined that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the crash.
 
It is unclear at this point whether the pedestrian had been in a crosswalk when the driver struck him. Because details are uncertain at this point, officials plan to investigate the circumstances to determine the cause.
