SAN DIEGO, CA (October 12, 2019) – A man in his 40s died in a motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon at a state park for off-road vehicles in the desert near Ocotillo Wells.
Authorities said the man and his teenage son were riding motorcycles together when the father collided with a Ford Explorer.
The park is located north of the rural North County community of Ocotillo Wells and state Highway 78. The crash was reported about 4:20 p.m. inside the park at Devils Slide Lane and San Felipe Wash, authorities said.
A Cal Fire official said bystanders began CPR on the injured man, then firefighters took over the procedure. A medical helicopter was requested, but the man died before he could be taken to a hospital.
