1 Dead in San Jose Single-Vehicle Crash on McKee Road and Francis Drive

SAN JOSE, CA (July 2, 2024) – Early Saturday morning, a man died in a horrific auto accident on McKee Road and Francis Drive.

The incident happened just before 2:30 a.m. on McKee Road and Francis Drive.

According to reports, a vehicle veered off the road and rammed into the second story of a residence. Officers confirmed that the female driver was allegedly intoxicated.

A high-speed collision involving a red 2022 Subaru sedan left a passenger dead and the driver facing serious charges, as per initial investigations. The driver lost control, sending the car over the center median and across all eastbound lanes of McKee Road, before reeling off the south curb.

The vehicle smashed through a fence and into the second story of a residence, prompting an immediate evacuation. Fortunately, no residents were injured in the dramatic crash.

Authorities reported that the driver, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, was arrested at the hospital on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. The passenger, tragically, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity. This accident marks the 23rd fatal crash and traffic death in San Jose in 2024.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
