Police Investigate Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash on State Route 111 in Calexico

Calexico, CA (April 17, 2025) – Calexico Police are actively investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash on State Route 111.

At approximately 6:19 a.m. on Thursday, officers responded to a report of a man lying on the ground near State Route 111, just south of Jasper Road. 

Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive man who had died near the east shoulder of the roadway. 

According to their preliminary findings, a vehicle struck the man as he stood beside his parked vehicle, then fled the scene without stopping.

Investigators believe, based on evidence gathered at the scene, that a black Volvo semi-truck hit the victim. 

The truck likely sustained damage to its right front bumper and fender. 

Authorities are treating the case as a vehicular homicide.

Calexico Police urge anyone who may have information related to the incident to contact the Calexico Police Department Investigations Bureau immediately.
