Driver Dies after Crashing into Big Rig in Terra Bella

TERRA BELLA, CA (July 12, 2019) – A 38-year-old Terra Bella man was killed Friday night after a big rig crash at Road 248, near Avenue 82.

Shortly before 7:00 p.m., the man was driving a black Ford F-150 south on Road 248, just North of Avenue 82 at an unknown speed.

Meanwhile, a white Kenworth tractor pulling a blue super dump trailer, driven by a 68-year-old Ducor man, was traveling north.

As the two vehicles approached each other, the Ford pickup crossed partially into the Kenworth’s path of travel. The big rig then turned right in an evasive manner, partially traveling into the dirt shoulder along the eastbound side of the roadway.

The front left side of the Ford collided with the left side of the Kenworth, spilling 85 gallons of fuel onto the roadway. The Ford then rotated in a counterclockwise direction before coming to rest along the west edge of the roadway.

Authorities found the Ford facing in a northwestern direction upon arrival. In addition, the Kenworth landed in the northbound lane.

Arriving units pronounced the Terra Bella man dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released pending family notification.

The driver of the Kenworth remained uninjured.

No additional information was provided at this time. Further investigation is underway.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased in this very unfortunate time of their lives.
