Richard Chavez Arrested after Fatal Pedestrian Crash near North Lincoln Street

 
STOCKTON, CA (December 20, 2018) – A pedestrian was killed Thursday evening following a hit-and-run crash on West Harding Way. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
 
According to the Stockton Police Department, the incident happened near North Lincoln Street, at about 9:03 PM. Due to unknown circumstances, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.
 
The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to San Joaquin General Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid and immediately fled the area.
 
Officers located the hit-and-run driver, later identified as 42-year-old Richard Chavez, not far from the scene of the collision. Chavez was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, felony DUI, and resisting arrest. Additional information will be released following the conclusion of the investigation.
