OAKLAND, CA (October 3, 2021) – Friday night, a man died in a pedestrian accident on Bancroft Avenue and 85th Avenue.
 
The incident occurred at around 9:56 p.m. on Bancroft Avenue and 85th Avenue.
 
According to the police, an Oakland male resident walked across 85th Avenue in an unmarked crosswalk. As the man walked with a dog, a speeding eastbound 1999 Toyota Camry hit them on Bancroft Avenue. The vehicle traveled in a bicycle lane until the driver lost control and hit the man and the dog.
 
As a result, the dog sustained a possible broken leg and was transported to a veterinarian for treatment.
 
Afterward, the Toyota struck two parked vehicles before the male driver and his possibly injured male passenger escaped on foot.
 
At this time, the authorities haven’t determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
 
The Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland offer up to $5,000 in reward money to anyone who can provide information that will lead to the arrests of the occupants of the Toyota.
