One Fatality in Freight Train Crash in 47th Avenue East Oakland

 
Oakland, CA (May 19, 2020)– On Tuesday morning, one unidentified man died in a freight train crash in 47th Avenue and San Leandro Street.
 
The crash occurred at around 5:17 a.m. on May 19. Dispatched officers arrived and located the pedestrian down on the scene.
 
According to reports, the Union Pacific freight train was heading southbound and had just passed High Street when it struck the man near the intersection of 47th Avenue and San Leandro Street. The man was walking on the tracks when being hit.
 
Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. No other injuries reported in the incident.
 
Moreover, the Union Pacific police and the Alameda County Coroner’s Office continue the investigation to determine the cause of his death.
