1 Dead in Redding Car Accident on 5 Freeway

 
REDDING, CA (July 7, 2020) – Saturday afternoon, a man died in a fiery big rig crash on 5 Freeway, north of Redding.
 
According to reports, the crash occurred on July 4th around 2:30 p.m. The man in a big rig traveled south on 5 Freeway. However, just a mile south of McCardle Flat Road, the truck slowly steered to the right where it hit the embankment and caught fire.
 
When the authorities arrived, they located the man dead in the driver’s seat. His identity remains undisclosed due to pending family notification.
 
Meanwhile, the authorities continue to investigate the crash. Also, it’s still unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. However, the officers confirmed that the incident was indeed a single-vehicle crash.
 
Furthermore, the police confirmed that the grass in the area also caught fire. Fortunately, the U.S. Forest Service managed to contain it at two acres.
